This year the students of 6A and 6B grades joined Learning Circles again. We were included in the circle Places and Perspective for Middle school. First there were 8 schools in our circle but it's a pity not all of them participated in it. We collaborated with 6-9 graders from Osnovna šola Cerklje ob Krki (Primary School), Slovenia; 5-6 graders from General Vanier. Winnipeg, Canada; 6-7 graders from Secondary school № 7, Korolyov, Russia; 8-9 graders from Army Burn Hall School and College, Abbottabad, Pakistan: 9-10 graders from Gymnasium №1,Starye Dorogi, Belarus.

Name of Project: Creating a Peaceful World by Learning From Our Past.
The students in Grade 5/6 are beginning a project that looks into the role of Canada during WW1 and WW2. Students will be investigating different areas of interests. The students are curious to know how war has affected your families’ lives; their generation or their elder’s generation. I would like my students to understand that war affects real people. Many of my students or their parents have never had to live through war, or political unrest.
Goal Of The Project:
The goal of the project is to hear different perspectives of war. WW1 (1914 – 1918) or WW2 (1939-1945). The big question is why are there Wars? Are we really all that different? What can we learn from history to make the world a peaceful place?
Type Of Writing Requested:
Electronic – PowerPoint, movie with interviews, podcast, photo story
Description Of What You Are Looking For From Other Schools:
*Pictures of Memorials that may be in your community,
* Stories those students have heard through their families.
* Old pictures from that era.
* Interviews with veterans or elders who were affected by war.
* A short history of your community during that period of time.
Questions:
Pick either of these timeframes: ( WW1 approximately 1914 -1918) or WW2 (approximately 1039-1945)

The students worked hard to find all the necessary data for our partners' projects. They were divided into groups according to their likes and interests. Each project was of a great interest to them. We'd like to showcase our contribution to different projects.
