GLOBAL ONENESS BOOK
The project deals with reflections on personal experiences of deep connection with a neighbour or a stranger, with a tradition, culture or community, with a place, a mountain or a passing butterfly, with the Earth, with Life.
Personal stories and photos are gathered from every region of the world on the theme of connection, and selected submissions will be published in a book, to be released internationally in 2010. This project was born out of a firm belief in the power of stories to shape the world we live in, and the core importance of moments of deep connection to our sense of shared responsibility, care, and belonging in one Earth community. Amidst the daily onslaught of stories that further division, it is our hope to share moments of connection that bring us closer together and foster a common vision of a better world.
Selected submissions will be published both online and in print form in a global compilation to be released and widely distributed in 2010. All selected participants will receive a copy of the book. The submissions may continue to be used by Earth Charter International in future publications and its campaigns for a more sustainable world. OUR SUBMISSIONS
Ludmila Kurdun
Hi, my name is Ludmila Kurdun. I'm 48. I live in Belarus.
This photo was taken in the summer of 2008 when I stayed in Ireland (Limerick).
It was so great to find myself in a quiet corner away from the roaring civilization on that warm day. The gleaming sun after a number of nasty days, a special restful atmosphere of that place, simple field flowers and the feeling of freedom made me really happy. I felt at home in that faraway meadow. Maybe nature is the thing that unites us.

A BEAUTY
The photo was taken in 2010 in Slonim (Belarus) that is the place where I was born and have been living all my life.
Don't be afraid of frogs. Be kind to them and perhaps someday they will turn into a prince or a princess.

My Best Friend
The photo was taken in 2010 in Slonim (Belarus). I think that life without pets is boring. My favourite pet is my dog. He is like a person. I can talk to him and he understands me. He shares my sorrows and happiness. He is very devoted to me and can't betray me. I enjoy taking my dog for a walk. It's a great fun. |

FRIENDS FOREVER
The photo was taken this summer (July 2010)in Yalta (the Ukraine).
During our trip to Yalta I was happy to meet, swim, feed and play with the cleverest and the wittiest animals on our planet - dolphins. I made friends wih Nemo. Though I couldn't swim I wasn't afraid to swim and play with him. He always helped me. The next day when we came to watch a performance he swam up to me. It was wonderful.

In touch with nature
This photo was taken in May 2008 in Minsk - the capital of Belarus. My family is fond of travelling and we often visit different cities and countries. When I was 5 years old we went to Minsk. On a sunny spring day we went to Cheluskintsy park. it looked nice. The green grass had already appeared and we could see small green leaves in the trees. The birches were really beautiful and we couldn't help touching them to get positive emotions and strength

Wonders of the Forest
This photo was taken in June 2010 when we went to Minsk (Belarus).
Minsk is known as a very green city with lots of parks and gardens. It's famous for its Botanical garden. We can see a lot of different local and exotic plants, squirrels, swans and ducks in the garden. It's a very picturesque place. You can get touch with nature here.

SUMMER IN STANFORD
The photo was taken in the summer of 2009 in Stanford University, the USA.
Last summer my students and I were invited to the Adobe Youth Voices Summit which was organized by the Adobe Foundation. The representatives from 15 countries became one large friendly family. The grown-ups and the youth united their efforts to gain new media skils to create media for social change. We were one team full of enthusiasm and creativity. We were encouraged to use digital tools to express our ideas and to take actions in our local communities. The experience we gained there was priceless.

Inspiration
The photo was also taken in the July of 2010 in the Crimea, Ukraine. On a hot sunny day we wandered around Nikitsky Botanical garden - one of the most famous attractions of the Crimea. I was very fascinated by a charming beauty of the landscape - mountains soaring skywards, vast valleys covered with peculiar plants.I enjoyed the smell of roses, lilies and other plants. I was very happy as I could get in touch with the picturesque corner of nature. I couldn't help admiring it. It gave me a feeling of inspiration and understanding of nature.

Swallow's nest
This photo was taken in the July of 2010 in the Crimea, Ukraine.
Travelling around the Crimea I was very excited and fascinated by the unique beauty of Swallow's nest which is considered to be a symbol of the South coast of the Crimea. It stands on 40-meter high Aurora rock. Rising high over the sea, it resembles a fairytale castle. The miniature castle with its delicate turrets seems to be hovering over the sea. It looks gorgeous both from the sea and from the shore.

An epoch is not about the years, but about the memories that we keep till the end of the life.
